The TikTok Pixel, just like the Facebook Pixel, lets you collect data that helps to track conversions from TikTok ads, build targeted audiences for future ads and remarket to people who have already taken some kind of action in your heyflow.

Process

(scroll down for detailed instructions with screenshots 👇)

  1. Access TikTok for Business (create an account if you don't have one yet)

  2. In your TikTok Ads Manager dashboard click on "Assets" in the navigation bar and select "Events"

  3. Set up your Web Event and fill in all relevant information (important - you should select "Manually install Pixel" and choose "Developer Mode")

  4. Extract the Pixel ID from the code snippet, the URL or by selecting "Email Pixel Code"

  5. Go back to your heyflow, head to the "Integrate" tab and go to Analytics

  6. Scroll down to TikTok Pixel and paste your Pixel ID

  7. (Re-)publish your heyflow (this is crucial!)

  8. Head back to TikTok and finalize the Pixel setup

  9. Test your Event to make sure everything is set up correctly

Set Up

  1. Access TikTok for Business and create an account.

This should take no longer than 3 minutes.

Once you’ve created an account, you will see the TikTok Ads Manager dashboard.

  2. In your dashboard, click on “Assets” and then “Events”.

  3. Set up your Web Event

In the next window, choose “Web Events”, after which you will be asked to create your Pixel. Here you will have to give a name to your Pixel, and then click on “TikTok Pixel” and “Next”.

Select “Manually install Pixel” and click on “Next”.

Next, choose “Developer Mode”, in order to be able to extract the Pixel ID from the Pixel code snippet.

  4. Extract the Pixel ID

Now, in order to get the Pixel ID, you can get it from the code snippet after “ttq.load”, or you can copy it right away from the URL, as seen here:

Alternatively, you can just click on “Email Pixel Code”, which will open a window where you can find the Pixel ID as well:

  5. Add the Pixel ID to your heyflow

Copy the Pixel ID and go back to your heyflow. Go to the "Integrate" tab and head to Analytics. Scroll down to "TikTok Pixel" and paste the ID there. Don’t forget to save the changes and republish your heyflow afterwards!

  6. Finalize the Pixel setup in TikTok

Go back to TikTok to finalize the setup, click “continue” and then “Complete Setup” on the bottom right.
💡 Tip: Install the TikTok Pixel Helper extension which will show you right away whether the events in your heyflow are being tracked or not.

  7. Test your Event to make sure everything is set up correctly

In your TikTok Ads Manager, go to “Test Events”.

Insert the URL of your heyflow and click on “Generate QR Code”.

Scan the QR code with your phone to do a run-through of your heyflow.

If you have installed the TikTok Pixel Helper, you will notice that the events are already being tracked and shown in the extension.

After you clicked through your heyflow on your phone via the QR code, you should see the event activities like "View Content", "Click Button" or "Submit Form" in your TikTok Ads Manager.

Congratulations! This means that your Pixel is now successfully connected to your heyflow and you can start launching TikTok ads campaigns!

Troubleshooting

I don't see any events

In case a user has declined the tracking cookies, the pixel will not work. Make sure you accept the cookies to see your test events.

💡 Tip: Use the TikTok Pixel Helper. This is a plugin that checks websites for installed TikTok Pixels and inspects the correct implementation.
